Welcome to Darwen Masters Swimming Club

Thank you for your interest in Darwen Masters Swimming Club.
We hope you will find the information on our web pages helpful.

Darwen Masters Swimming Club was formed in 1988 and provides training, stroke improvement and improving general fitness for enthusiastic swimmers. Currently, our training sessions are every,                                                                                        Wednesday, 8.00 – 9.00 pm and every Saturday, 4.00 – 5.00 pm at Darwen Leisure Centre .

Our training sessions are based at the modern Darwen Leisure Centre, Green Street, Darwen where we are fortunate to be able to use a modern eight-lane 25-metre deck-level pool. The pool also enjoys the facility to split the pool into a 4-lane and a 3-lane pools by a longitudinal boom. Additionally, the 4-lane section of the pool has a movable floor which can be raised or lowered from 2.0 metres to 1.0 metre. There is a pool-side chair lift for our disabled swimmers. We have one coach who is vastly experienced and sets challenging but enjoyable schedules for the different grades of swimmers in the Club. All club members take advice and guidance from the coach on their stroke technique and which is the most appropriate swimming lane and schedule to undertake on a regular basis.

We are a small club but there is friendship and camaraderie amongst members no matter what the standard of their swimming.

We have members who wish train so that they are able to swim competitively in local, inter-county, national and international Masters swimming events. Our members have previously competed in the World Masters Swimming Championships and some swimmers have been selected to represent Lancashire in the Northern Counties Masters championships. For some members, the opportunity to train at the Club is part of their preparations for open-water swimming or triathlon events. But for many members, the opportunity to maintain fitness levels by regular swimming is their primary objective.

We welcome new members and offer a free trial swim.
